About the Builder
In 2009 Centex Corporation and Pulte Homes merged into America’s largest homebuilding company, covering 59 markets, 29 states, and the District of Columbia. The combined company is now named PulteGroup, Inc. and is headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Formerly, the Centex Corporation, which was the parent company of Centex, had been honored with the No. 1 ranking for multiple years on Fortune magazine's list of "America's Most Admired Companies" TM in the engineering and construction category. Centex Homes was the only builder to rank among the Top 10 on Professional Builder’s "Giant 400" list each year since its inception in 1968, and in 1998 the magazine named Centex Homes its "Builder of the Year."
They also had successful operations in construction materials production and general contracting as well as home building. A major acquisition for Centex was Cavco Industries, Arizona's largest manufactured home retailer. Over the years, Centex subsidiaries have built such landmarks as Texas Stadium, the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas and additions to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
In early 1990, one of Arizona’s oldest and best known homebuilders, Gold Key Homes, joined the Centex family. Together they became the state’s most financially stable and dependable homebuilder.
